The better prepared the better the enjoyment!
Training, what great fun! |
Monday, March 8th - It is good to hear so many encouraging reports from travel team play this past weekend. We heard of the lunge, run-overs, hip swivel fakes, and many more being used by various students. KAT scored three goals in two Premier League games in Mississippi putting them in a great position to secure #1 for the season. We will try and have the video of PATTI doing her great "grape" juggles and headers on this site for you to see as soon as possible. Last word she is starting to look like Barney; just the color! March 2nd - PATTI JORDAN has done it! She took our - "If you want to be the best you have to go beyond what everyone else is doing" - and took it to heart, and has she ever!! PATTI has demonstrated that anyone can become a "grape" juggler, or is it great juggler. She not only can juggle a grape with her feet, she then flips it from her foot high into the air and catches it in her mouth! Don't "wine" if you can't juggle like PATTI but get out there and start practicing. This girl is just plain fun! Where else would you find soccer players like this? We heard the National Soccer Juggling Federation was going to toast her accomplishment only to find out that there is a shortage of grapes in the country for wine making because of the Grape Juggling Craze PATTI has started. Where else would you hear news like this but here? Fair and "Balanced" - Grapes on her foot that is! February 27th - BARBARA NIGRO made a great behind the back move in her games in Brentwood this weekend which impressed all. KAT NIGRO scored 4 of her teams 6 goals in their 2 - 0, 2 -1, 2 - 0, wins over Knoxville and two teams from Louisville KY. teams. BRANDI, MCKENZIE, ABBY, DAILEE and HANNAH played their first travel team game against a first division team from Franklin which was a very good team. The girls did well for their first game against such a very good team which had been together for six years. Coach Sam Matson was certainly proud of his girls for their first game on such a very cold day! February 20th - MORGAN VOYLES ran a 4X800 with the Knoxville Track Club at the University of Kentucky today. Out of 16 teams they finished 4th missing 3rd by two tenths of a second. MORGAN beat her best time to date once more. Good going MORGAN!
February 13th - MORGAN VOYLES won her heat at the University of Indiana today and then finish 7th out of 20 girls in the 800 meter race beating her first her indoor race time by 6 seconds which is very good for this 9th grader!
February 13th - PATTI JORDAN'S FC Alliance Team beat the state champs U-15 KFC Premier Team today 3 - 0. It was not just the 29 degree weather than made them the "coolest" team on the field. From all reports PATTI was quite dynamic today in her play.
February 11th - Gatorade in collaboration with ESPN has announced their 2009 -2010 Tennessee Soccer Player Of The Year! Who DAT = Dat Kat! Congratulations KAT NIGRO! February 3rd - Top Drawer Soccer - class of 2011 top 100 players in the nation has moved KAT NIGRO up from #26 to #13. Congratulations KAT!
January 25th - Two news stories. www.myspartanews.com (click the link) - WCHS Virtual Enterprise Class took first place in the state and now go to New York for the Nationals - front page! Congratulations BILLY RICHARDSON class CEO! MORGAN VOYLES ran in her first indoor track meet ever this past Saturday at East Tennessee State University and finished 3rd in her heat. She was the 3rd fastest high school freshmen in the 800 meter race. Her hope was to not finish last in the meet which she certainly didn't. We missed her at the training session but when she is not here you can be sure she is on the "run" somewhere making us proud!
January 4th - MADDI POTTERS hopes to return to training again as soon as her Achilles heals. However, she deserves a big Congratulations having been a key part of her basketball team's success in winning the Chick-fil-a Tournament in Franklin recently. She keeps up with everyone and what is happening by visiting this site often. Over 100 hits on this site every week which is nice to know of the interest here!
Brentwood Premier lost the championship game 2 - 1 but considering they had only 13 field players and having played 4 highly competitive games in four days against teams that had 16 or 17 players they certainly did very well. Tournament rule will not allow a player to go back in once they come out during any half of play which makes it very hard to to get a rest. KAT played every minute of every game and had a great tournament.
Saturday, January 2nd - Disney Classic Tournament - Brentwood Premier beat the favorite team to win their division which was a very physical not so nice team from New York. Brentwood now advances to the tournament championship game. KAT has had a very good tournament. The UNC coach got to watch her play the first half of this game in which she did very well.
Thursday, December 31st - What a game it must have been. Brentwood Premier vs. California Rush Disney Classic Tournament game in Orlando. Brentwood was down 2 - 0 at the half after one of their players was red carded leaving Brentwood with only 10 players and little chance of winning. With 15 minutes left in the game KAT NIGRO was moved to a lone striker position and went to work. Her first goal was on a head flick over the defender and then beating her to the ball. Her second was a chest flick to the side of the defender and a chip over the goalie. Then she pulled what is hard to do at this level she got the hat trick with another great move to upset a very highly rated team from California 3 - 2. KAT told me just minutes after the game she couldn't really remember all that happened it just came together for her. Wow but did it ever. The head flick over the on -coming defender is of course one of the things we have worked on numerous times so it was great to hear she got to use it and scored. Of course the chip goes without saying :) - She has that down. Nice to hear our girls are doing so well in Florida. Read the article below! Wednesday, December 30th - PATTI JORDAN scored against a team from Ohio to put Knoxville FC Alliance ahead 2 - 1 in the second half of their last tournament game in Fort Lauderdale, Florida today. PATTI then used the roll move to beat a defender, passing the ball through the seam to one of her teammates for the third goal and then made another good move for her second assist of the game. One goal and two assist. KELSEY ROBERSON was the key to controlling the mid-field for FC Alliance. It is great to hear how PATTI and KELSEY played. PATTI sure sounded excited when she called, and with good reason!!
December 26th - KAT NIGRO receives scholarship to play for the University of North Carolina upon her graduation from high school in 2011. UNC won their 21st NCAA College National Championship recently defeating previously unbeaten Standford University of California. Congratulations Kat! It has been her dream for many years to play for UNC where many of the Olympic and National Team players such as Mia Hamm and others played for coach Anson Dorrance.
December,7th - The NATIONAL SOCCER COACHES ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA has named KAT NIGRO to the 2009 ALL- REGION TEAM! CONGRATULATIONS KAT! The region covers all the Southern States.
December, 7th - JANNA YOTHER made her debut with ABBY YOTHER'S Blount United Starz in their tournament in Atlanta a memorable one as she got two assist as the team tied the first game, won the second and lost the last game. JANNA and CHS teammate JESSICA WILSON were at it again as they teamed up for one of the goals. This being their first tournament with the STARZ as guest players JANNA, JESSICA, and ARIEL VINSON from CHS, only played half a game but made their presence known. ABBY played a strong game controlling the middle of the field for the Starz.
December 7th - PATTI JORDAN got off to a great start in her first game with FC ALLIANCE of Knoxville as she scored in the first game of the tournament in Atlanta. Her team did well only to lose in the championship game to a very strong team from Memphis. It usually takes a while to get use to playing at this level but with her skill and dedication she is already making her presence known.
Dec. 7th - KAT'S Brentwood Team beat Oregon in their first game, then lost a tight game to Washington State this past weekend. in thier tournament in Texas. No word yet on their last game against California.
